I have spent the last 5 years trying to find a way to stay at home with my daughter and still make a substantial income. I tried selling Avon a few times because I love the products, but it never seemed to work out. When I discovered Younique, I was a little skeptical. But, I finally decided to take the plunge and join Younique.
A couple of years ago, a friend of mine from high school started selling Younique and she seemed to really excel at it and enjoy it. She quit her job and stayed home with her little ones while doing something she loved. That’s what got my attention to start with. But, it was $100 to get the starter kit. I didn’t have the faith in myself at the time to spend that, and take a chance.
Fast forward to today; I have been to a ton of Younique virtual parties, hosted my own, and asked my friend a million questions and have done a ton of research. I even own enough Younique products that I did my entire wedding makeup myself last month and couldn’t be happier. (That’s right- I’m a newlywed now!).
One big reason I finally decided to join now is that I am currently 7 months pregnant and working 56 hours per week. It’s killing me! It reminds me every day how I’ve dreamt of having my own business. I know I won’t be able to work these kind of hours soon or with a newborn.
If you have followed my blog, you know I have tried to sell Avon and decided it wasn’t for me. I even wrote an entire post to show you why I didn’t think it was worth it. Avon and Younique are both considered multi-level marketing businesses but Younique is so much better. It’s a modern day Avon!
Here is what I love about selling Younique:
- No catalogs: it’s not necessary to buy a new catalog every two weeks and hand them all out. You do have the option to buy catalogs to give to customers who would rather physically flip through a book than browse a web page.
- Virtual parties on Facebook: Everything can be done on Facebook. I am a lot more social of a person online than I am in person. So, it makes it much more suitable for me to succeed.
- Easier to recruit new presenters: Younique hasn’t been around for decades and the market isn’t saturated with presenters like Avon or Mary Kay. Since direct sales business focus a lot on recruiting people to train and sell, you will have an easier time recruiting when it is something new an exciting. The big money is always in leadership.
- The products: I absolutely love the products and how they make me look and feel.
- The sisterhood: Every woman I have met through Younique is the most loving, passionate, and truly helpful person you will ever know. It is a sisterhood of people who just want to lift you up and help you succeed. There is nothing better than being surrounded by people like that. My leadership truly is interested in helping me learn and grow my business.
- Easy minimums: The minimum amount you have to sell to remain a presenter is not unattainable. The requirement is $125 every rolling 3 month period. That’s like selling 1-2 mascaras per month, and they practically sell themselves.
- An awesome presenter’s kit: The $99 you pay to start selling Younique gets you this amazing kit that is actually worth over $200.
It comes with all of this:
- 1 Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes+
- 1 Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palette (palette will vary)
- Angled Shadow / Sponge Brush
- Beachfront Self-Tanning Body Lotion
- Splurge Cream Shadow in Elegant
- Cream Shadow Brush
- Shine Eye Makeup Remover Cloths
- Skin Care Sampler
- Foundation Sampler
- Bronzer Sampler
- Pigment Sampler
- Blush Sampler
- Lip Gloss Sampler (Set of 10)
- Lip Stain Sampler (Set of 7)
- Shade Stick
- White Charm
- Black Oval Presenter Case
- Presenter Guide
- Catalog
How Much do you Make Selling Younique?
Of course, one of the biggest reasons to join a sales company of any kind is to make money. So here is where we get real. Younique has a tiered earnings chart that may be a little difficult to figure out at first. But, I’m here to help with that.

*You have the potential to make 36% on everything you sell. This also means your “Younique presenter discount” can be as high as that.
As you can see from the charts above, it looks a little confusing. The best explanation I have found for the Younique pay structure is the video below. Check it out!
This is just the tip of the iceburg when it comes to explaining why Younique is so amazing. Please feel free to comment below with any questions you might have or you can just email me at meganrsisko[at]gmail.com.
Hi – My name is Bev and I really enjoyed your article. I have actually heard about Younique on Facebook but never seriously considered either using or selling it and your enthusiasm was so amazing for this product line! And, of course, that’s what got me hooked on the idea of your company. I can’t wait to start buying these for myself.
Originally, I had googled something like ‘Can you make money selling Avon’ or something like that and came upon your other article where you talked about your experience selling Avon and the massive expense for Avon brochures. I was thinking Avon could now just be sold online at the site – I didn’t realize you still have to buy the stupid brochures :/
I was in Avon some years ago and that’s exactly why I had to quit! I could not keep up with the cost weekly and my week goes so fast with other things that a campaign was over very quickly.
After reading about that, I’m not sure I want anything to do with Avon again. I realize the cost of Younique is $100 to start with, but if you look at the Avon starter kits, some are $100 too, so it’s comparable if you go in for their deluxe kit – not just the $25 basic kit.
But your enthusiasm for the product and commitment to the company and just overall friendly attitude makes me feel very confident that I’d want to join your team if I ever get into this Younique home business opportunity.
I had previously joined Tupperware also and the upline woman was NO help at all. Literally, the second she got my credit card info for the kit, she abruptly hung up the phone on me saying her signal was cutting out and afterward, refused to answer my emails on Tupperware related issues. I liked that brand and all, but i didn’t feel there was anyone to talk to about the actual technical issues of the business.
So for sure, I would definitely be looking for an involved team leader, and possibly in time, building a team of my own – and you have a really nice team – though I’m really a go-getter in terms of knowing how to market products – not a beginner there.
Also the free website! That’s a good feature. I’ve built my own websites and that takes so long to do! It’s nice when a site is just premade and you can refer friends online to it.
I would love to learn more about your business and have bookmarked both your blog and your product website – everything just looks amazing! I had no idea the products were so beloved by so many women! Looks like an exciting product line and opportunity to be involved in. The thing that sticks in my mind was how you were talking about all the women in the Younique business being so passionate about this product line! I like the idea of being part of a sisterhood company! Especially with a company that is not so oversaturated like Avon or even Mary Kay but a really good product too! For sure, it looks like a winner!
Hopefully, I will have time for something like this especially if promoting online is allowed, such as via Facebook and Instagram, could be a nice part time business that I can work around my family. I don’t think I could do in home parties, but I am very social online in terms of being in various Facebook groups and knowing people from all over! Everything you said about not really being social in person but more online, that’s me exactly! Also same thing for Facebook, I’m so comfortable there with my online friends. So i think this would be a good opportunity for that reason.
I sent you a Facebook (friends) request as I could not find your Facebook page for your business (same first name on FB too). I might not be ready just yet to go into the business just yet. I will need to explore this some more. And, I really need some more time to think about it and use the actual products to see if it’s something that’s right for me. Also, would be interested in having my daughter join me on this – she’s going into the teen years and could be a way to get her more involved and active.
Thanks again for such an insightful article. I look forward to speaking to you soon and finding out about this business opportunity.
I’m not sure if I got your friend request but I recently got married, so my Facebook is under that name (Megan Sisko) and my business page is https://www.facebook.com/YouniquebyMeganSisko/
I’m 6mo pregnant with my first child and have been frantically searching the Internet for ways to make income while being a stay-at-home mom, your article has definitely peaked my interest! I originally searched something about selling Avon (my mom used to do it but couldn’t keep up with it and stopped) and came across this article. I’m very interested in learning more and figuring out how I too can make a living selling Younique!
Hey Mekailah, I just sent you an email!
I am a first time mother to a 5 month old and I’m not ready to leave her, but I need to make some sort of income. I had signed up for Avon recently but had t committed to it yet. I literally JUST searched “is selling avon worth it” and, thankfully, found your article which led me to this one! I am VERY interested in becoming a sales rep. I just want to be home with my daughter, to keep things tidy in the house, to make dinner for my husband, while making money for my family.
Hello!
I am also currently a stay at home mom to a 3 year old, with another on the way!!! And I was used to being in the work place. But now I want to stay home and actually take care of these babies on my own. I was a single mom for the first 2 years of my child’s life. Luckily I have met someone fantastic and he’s allowed me to stay home and take care of my son while waiting on the new bundle of joy to arrive. However, I do need something to do to make money. Even if it’s enough to pay a few bills or groceries. Something is better than nothing! And I need to do something to keep me sane!
